NARBERTH, Pa. — As a result of the American Rescue Plan act that was passed by the federal level, state Senator Amanda Cappelletti (D-17th) has awarded Narberth Ambulance with a $150,000 grant to upgrade cardiac monitors in advanced life support ambulances.
Paramedics use cardiac monitors when they arrive on an emergency scene to check the patient’s heart rate, heart rhythm, blood pressure and oxygen saturation. It delivers controlled pulses to stabilize the heart rate to its normal rhythm or deliver defibrillation to restart a failing heart. It is an immediate resuscitation tool that saves lives in the field.
“As we like to say ‘time is tissue’ and the cardiac monitors are probably our biggest capital expenditure and something that has proven time and time again to be lifesaving,” said Narberth Ambulance President David Zaslow.
“Without the support of this grant and Senator Cappelletti we wouldn’t be able to replace our stock of monitors. We are incredibly grateful.”
Essential but costly, the price of one cardiac monitor can range from $25,000 to $40,000. The state grant allows Narberth Ambulance to continue providing above-and-beyond service to the community by upgrading the collection of aging cardiac monitors to keep up to date with cutting-edge emergency medical technology.
Securing this funding better equips Narberth Ambulance emergency personnel to continue the top-quality emergency cardiac care in all their 911 ambulances when time is of the essence.

As a non-profit organization 501(c)3, Narberth Ambulance relies heavily on billing and benevolence, not tax dollars to fund their life-saving work.
Since 1944, Narberth Ambulance has earned a stellar reputation for providing 24/7 pre-hospital emergency medical services and medical transportation to more than 150,000 residents, businesses and visitors.
