VICTORVILLE, Calif. — The City of Victorville has been awarded $6.3 million from California’s Encampment Resolution Fund to address homelessness by clearing encampments and offering housing and supportive services for unsheltered residents.

The grant, provided by the California Department of Housing and Community Development, will support efforts such as enhanced street outreach, operations at the Victorville Wellness Center, interim housing, and rapid re-housing programs. These initiatives are aimed at helping unsheltered individuals gain stability while reducing the impact of encampments on local residents and businesses.

“Homelessness is the issue of most concern to our Victorville community, and we are grateful to the state of California for this grant,” said Victorville Mayor Liz Becerra. “It will enable us to provide shelter solutions for the unhoused while reducing the negative impacts encampments can have.”

Since 2021, Victorville has received more than $40 million in state funding for its homelessness solutions programs. This includes a Homekey Grant that funded the construction of the Victorville Wellness Center, a non-congregate shelter that offers interim housing and a medical clinic onsite. Since opening in December 2023, the Wellness Center has helped over 80 clients transition to permanent housing.

Victorville has the second-highest concentration of homeless individuals in San Bernardino County. For more details on the city’s homelessness strategy, visit VictorvilleCA.gov/HomelessnessSolutions.
