Applications are now being accepted for Ohio EMS grants, which provide funding for every aspect of emergency medical services across the state in descending order of importance.
There are two different grant applications:
- Priority One and Supplemental grant requests
- Priority 2-5 Trauma & EMS Research Request for Information (RFI) Opportunities.
Grants are funded by fines levied across the state for seat belt violations.
Priority One and Supplemental Ohio EMS Grants
Funds from this pool are earmarked for training, equipment purchases and to improve quality and accessibility to emergency medical services in Ohio. Priority One and Supplemental grants can only be applied for with an electronic application through Ohio’s EMS Grant Management System.
Priority 2-5 Trauma & EMS Research Request for Information (RFI) Opportunities
For applicants seeking funds outside of training or equipment purchases, there are four additional categories.
Priority 2: Funds are designated to entities that research, test and evaluate medical procedures and systems related to trauma care.
Priority 3: Funds are designated to entities dedicated to researching the cause, nature and effects of traumatic injuries, as well as those organizations committed to educating the public about injury prevention.
Priority 4: Funds are designated to entities research rehabilitation procedures for trauma victims.
Priority 5: Funds are designated to entities that research a) procedures governing the performance of EMS; b) the training of EMS personnel; or c) the staffing of EMS agencies.
Priority 2-5 research grants must be applied for by completing a paper application, which can be reviewed and downloaded below.
Applications for all priority areas of Ohio EMS grants are due by April 1. Award letters will be mailed by the end of June.
