Georgia Pacific Foundation grants are awarded to charitable ventures in the areas they operate manufacturing facilities, with a goal of uplifting each community by improving lives through efforts that have the greatest impact.
The foundation focuses on four specific areas when deciding what type of projects to support:
#1 Education
Grants consideration is given to applicants with results-driven ideas. Past funding has been used to boost literacy, train teachers and introduce more kids to STEM-based careers. Past grant recipients include Teach for America, Literacy in Action and the United Negro College Fund.
#2 Entrepreneurship
Georgia Pacific Foundation grants have been used to fund educational and business programs that focus on real-world business skills, as well as programs geared specifically towards small, minority and women-owned business. Past grant recipients include Junior Achievement and the Atlanta Business League.
#3 Environment
Grants funds can be used in projects that contribute towards long-term sustainment of natural resources, as well as recycling and environmental education. Past grant recipients include the Alabama Clean Water Partnership, Keep America Beautiful and the Wildlife Habitat Council.
#4 Enrichment of Community
Funds can be used for projects that better the community as a whole, such as programs that support affordable housing, youth enrichment, arts and culture and job readiness training. Past grant recipients include Habitat for Humanity, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, as well as local police and fire departments.

The foundation offers a rolling deadline for grant funds, but encourages applications be turned in by Oct. 31 due to end-of-year funding concerns.
