As a way of finding new applicants, Minnesota’s Pathway to Policing grant provides funding for police departments around the state to recruit and train individuals with nontraditional backgrounds.
Police departments are eligible to receive up to 50 percent reimbursement costs for the training and compensation of police recruits through the Pathway to Policing program.
Applicants should include the following in their submission for the police grant:
- A description of their program
- How they define a nontraditional candidate
- Recruitment and selection process
- Eligibility requirements and minimum qualifications for candidates
- Description of proposed training
Once selected, police grant recipients will be required to submit data and narrative reports reflecting the progress of the department’s program.
The deadline to apply for a grant is Sept. 12.
